Wedding with all the decorations and death as an unexpected guest …
Victoria Rienzi has returned home to Jersey to explore a new book and improve her cooking skills at her family’s seaside restaurant, Casa Lido. But when the demanding Vic nonna instructs her to arrange a soup course for a wedding at an exclusive Belmont country club, there’s soon been trouble in the kitchen. Three temperamental chefs are banging their heads, their bosses throwing punches, and the club’s huge president, Elizabeth Merriman, opposes everyone around.
Elizabeth, also known as the Iron Lady, did her share of enemies, including the bride’s father, who was caught embezzled from a country club. She threatens to fire the famous confectioner in charge of the wedding cake, who is not afraid to hide the hatred of Elizabeth. And who is the mysterious man in dark glasses who never leaves the older side of a woman?
While the wedding goes smoothly until the happy couple and their guests leave, Elizabeth Merriman is gone. The next morning, when her body is found on the beach, the country club president seems to have slipped off the sea wall, but Vicas was not convinced. Did the Iron Lady finally push something too far? And did that someone push her back – into the embrace of death?
Rosie Genova is releasing the secrets of her Italian cuisine.

Another winner of this author. I was spoiled reading both books in this series.
I strongly descended on the whole Rienzi family. They all came back. The romantic triangle / tension continues to develop between Vic, her old boyfriend Timo, and carpenter Cal. Nonna still controls her family and strictly directs them into her thinking. All the characters grow when we get to know them better.
In this part, we meet the chefs at the Belmont Country Club, and let’s say we’d rather spend time with chef Gordon Ramsey 🙂 These chefs are extremely temperamental and aren’t happy to have outsiders in their kitchen. When the president of the club is found dead, there are many suspects, including the chef and the bride’s father.
I was very impressed with the way Genoa weaves a secret into a subdivision of the Rienzi family. It is seamless. The protagonist, with a mysterious writer, simply combines everything perfectly, as if a masterful piece of Italian lasagna with many layers. It inspires characters to life and makes them jump out of pages.
As in the first story, descriptions and talk about food make me so hungry. Once again, I appreciate the recipes at the end of the book.
The only part I don’t like is that now I have to wait all year for me to visit this amazing Italian family. Ciao Rienzi family! I look forward to seeing you again !!
